Dental extractions
Whilst impacted teeth and retained roots can be “tricky”, I am mindful that even “simple” procedures can seem daunting for patients. If your dentist finds themselves unable to provide dental extractions due to either clinician experience, considerations surrounding co-existing medical comorbidities or your anxiety surrounding treatment, I will work with you to ensure we achieve a treatment plan that is right for you, minimising complications and making the experience as pleasant as possible. This may involve providing treatment in a calm and supportive environment and experience nurses under local anaesthesia (awake), intravenous sedation or general anaesthesia (asleep). If you have co-existing medical conditions that have implications for “simple” extractions, then I will liaise with your medical team as appropriate to ensure we optimise your perioperative recovery. As an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer who is doubly qualified in medicine and dentistry, in my educational role I ensure that the dentists of the future are treating patients not just teeth – a philosophy I embrace within my own surgical practice on every level!
