TMJ expertise, from diagnosis to complex surgery
The temporomandibular joints connect your lower jaw to your skull. Problems involving these joints or the surrounding muscles can cause pain, locking, restricted opening and difficulty chewing. Assessment helps establish the cause and whether symptoms arise from the joint, muscles or another source.

Mr Elledge assesses both new symptoms and persistent problems following previous treatment. Many patients can be managed without an operation. Depending on the diagnosis, care may include advice about jaw habits, exercises, physiotherapy, medication or a dental appliance.
For selected patients, surgery may be appropriate. Your consultation includes discussion of alternatives, potential benefits, risks and recovery.
TMJ arthroscopy uses a small camera to examine and treat selected problems inside the joint through small entry points. It may be considered for appropriate cases of pain and restricted movement.
Open TMJ surgery provides direct access to the joint when a problem requires an approach that arthroscopy cannot provide. The procedure depends on the underlying diagnosis.
Total joint replacement is considered for carefully selected patients with severe joint disease. Mr Elledge offers custom joint replacement, with individual planning, rehabilitation and follow-up. The aim is to improve function and symptoms; complete pain relief cannot be guaranteed.
Facial skin cancer surgery and reconstruction
A diagnosis of skin cancer on the face can raise concerns about both treatment and appearance. Mr Elledge provides facial skin cancer surgery and reconstructive care, with planning that considers the affected area, the proposed removal and how the resulting wound can be repaired.
